Forget-Me-Not Group Enjoys a Great Day Out

The ‘Forget-Me-Not’ group in Hull is an independent group for people aged over 55, which meets for a couple of hours twice a week. This 30-strong group is run by volunteers and its aim is to keep its members socially active in their community, and develop friendships and interests.

When the group members decided to have an outing to Burton Agnes Hall in East Yorkshire, Beverley Community Lift was only too happy to help make that outing happen.

Beverley Community Lift volunteer drivers took the group for their day out in two of its minibuses, and provided the door-to-door community transport service.

Speaking about the outing, Forget-Me-Not volunteer Steve Calver said: ‘The outing to Burton Agnes Hall was very good. We have very high praise for both drivers from Beverley Community Lift. They were friendly, helpful and very professional. They communicated well to all our members and kept the group engaged throughout.

The outing was all about getting the ‘Forget-me-not’ group of people out and about and enjoying some open spaces with friends

Our members split in to smaller groups with one group of explorers following a nature trail - spotting different animals along the way - we had an ad-hoc quiz and even did some Tai Chi exercises in the grounds of the Hall. We wanted to make it a really different day for our group, and I think we did that.

Of course the café was very popular too!

We only have praise for the whole day, and want to thank the Beverley Community Lift team for helping us to get out and about.’

This  outing was part-funded by a grant received by Beverley Community Lift as part of the Humber Half Marathon Loneliness Project in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Hull, HEY Smile Foundation, Hudgell solicitors and Help for Health.
