Giant Pumpkin Competition
Local businesses Beverley Garden Centre and Oldroyd's Corner have weighed in to help local charity Beverley Community Lift raise much needed funds.
They have set up a 'guess the weight of the giant pumpkin' competition to support the charity, and it's hoped that visitors will get involved and have some fun.
Paul Oldroyd of Oldroyd's Corner explained more: "We've grown some giant pumpkins in our 'All Season-All Weather Show Garden' which is one acre under glass within Beverley Garden Centre in Woodmansey, near Beverley.
"So we thought we would set up a 'guess the weight of the pumpkin' competition to let visitors to the Beverley Garden Centre know about our special garden, and raise some funds for a local charity at the same time.
"It costs £1 per guess, and lots of interest has already been generated. The competition runs until 29th September, so we're encouraging everyone to come along and have a go."
Beverley Community Lift provides caring and supportive community transport to take local elderly and disabled people out and about, and reduce feelings of loneliness. The charity is raising funds to buy a replacement community transport minibus.
